I just can't believe the terrible support available in early pregnancy in my area (N.I.Share on Pinterest A person should consult a doctor if they suspect that they are leaking amniotic fluid. That means I have to wait over 4 weeks before seeing a midwife again. The cramps have eased, but this afternoon I have been having strange pains right where my uterus is so something else to worry about! I honestly don't know what to do as there is no point ringing the hospital again and my GP midwife won't see me to 18 weeks and only seems to work on Tuesdays anyway. I wish I had have taken her name to complain, but I was in shock at the time.Īnyway, thankfully the bleeding was light and mostly brown spotting, usually only when I wipe. Her attitude was impatient and rude and she made me feel like a huge inconvenience. There was more but when I think of it, it makes my blood boil, even now. She basically said that unless blood was soaking a pad every hour there was no point in going back to hospital as 'you're only 13 weeks and there's nothing we can do anyway'. Well I rang the hospital after another bleed during the night and spoke to the most horrible midwife ever. Has anybody experienced anything similar? I know that whatever will happen will happen and that neither the doctors nor I can do anything about it, but it's just so stressful! I shocked myself by how much of an emotional wreck I was. I had to stop googling as stories seemed to be evenly split between leaking amniotic fluid causing miscarriage and extra discharge so it really wasn't helping! I feel like I'm now in limbo and will worry constantly until 20 week scan. Thankfully there has been no fluid leakage since, just the usual discharge so I just have to keep an eye on it and ring up if I've any further questions. Anyway I was sent home with no real explanation and have to ring up in few days for swab results, but as there's no other signs of infection they probably won't show anything. The picture quality was really poor though so I couldn't see much myself. Initially she didn't want to scan me but after my emotional breakdown she did a reassurance scan and saw baby move and heart beat which was a relief. She seemed to think it was additional discharge. She said cervix was closed and she could see some brown discharge and a small ectropian which was common in pregnancy, but she didn't offer any possible reasons for the leaking fluid. When I got there they did all the usual checks, blood pressure, urine sample etc and then the doctor did an internal check of cervix and swabs. I rang hospital and was told to come in to be checked. I had no cramps bad apart from being worried sick felt otherwise well. It wasn't the colour or consistency of blood, did not smell like urine (tmi sorry) and was too watery and plentiful to be discharge. I was up twice in the night to use the loo (nothing unusual there) but when I got up at 6 this morning my underwear, liner and pj bottoms were soaked through with a pink watery fluid. I was just wondering if anyone had similar experiences to whats happened to me this morning.
